Course Description
English IV is a survey of British Literature, beginning with the earliest heroic tales of Beowulf and King Arthur all the way through Shakespeare and twentieth century writing. We will study poetry, plays, and novels of classic British writers and analyze how these works have contributed to the culture of America and the English language. This course is also designed to prepare high school seniors for college, so be prepared to write essays and complete reading assignments at home. As an honors course, students will be challenged with more independent work and a faster paced curriculum than a standard level class.
